Nigeria’s Golden Jubilee Independence Day Anniversary
Theme: Abounding Opportunities for a Nation in Transition
October 1, 2010 is the Golden Jubilee Independence Day Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Fifty (50) years after the end of colonialism Nigeria has emerged as the largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa and is a Nation in transition to greatness in the global marketplace. The country offers abundant opportunities to all who wish her well.
The Nigerian Union of North Florida Incorporated (NUNF Inc.), an organization of Nigerians in the Diaspora residing in the North Florida area, has prepared a slate of events and activities to mark this Golden Jubilee Anniversary. These include a Symposium which is being co-sponsored by the Office of International Education and Development (OIED) of the Florida A & M University (FAMU) at the Teleconference Center on FAMU campus on Friday, October 1, 2010 and an African Movie Night on Friday October 8, 2010, showcasing Nigeria’s rapidly growing Movie Industry, Nollywood. The celebration will be climax with a Night Party on October 9, 2010.
While we recognize our diversity as American citizens, we are pleased to celebrate our Nigerian culture and heritage. NUNF Inc is pleased to invite the Tallahassee community and our North Florida neighbors to come and celebrate with us the Golden Jubilee Independence Day Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
